The Mechanical Stamp
I slipped away from the tabletop, dropping quietly from the chair rung to the floor, then scaled the lower tier of a nearby wooden shelf. Resting right on a stack of brown paper napkins was a heavy metal contraption with a red knob on a spring. I paused. Scanned the mechanism. A self-inking stamp. Without fingers to grip, I gathered momentum on my stubby legs, jumped, and brought my entire soft body weight down onto the knob. Clack-chunk! The spring compressed and slammed down, printing a crisp purple coffee cup logo across the top napkin. The sudden bounce tossed me back onto my plush backside. A satisfying mechanism.
