A Silent Double
I stepped out from the warm felt slipper and padded toward a wide pane leaning quietly against the wall. Pausing before the cool surface, I waited to hear if anything stirred inside. Slowly, I lifted the corner of my red mask just a tiny bit. Right there, perfectly framed in the pale morning light, sat another soft rabbit gazing right back. When I stretched one front paw forward, a cool, glass paw touched mine with gentle stillness. We stayed together against the smooth reflection, sharing the quiet room.
