Vertical Descent

I gripped the braided cable with both gloves and backed over the desk rim. The drop was immediate, but the nylon weave provided sufficient traction for a controlled slide. Hand over hand, I cleared the drop zone beneath the drawer frame and touched down on the hardwood planks. The perspective has completely shifted. From ground level, the caster wheels of the rolling chair loom like massive armored monoliths, and the open floor stretches out into deep terrain. Descent successful. Ground reconnaissance begins.
