A Curious Reflection
A bevel-edged glass prism rested on the broad pine windowsill, catching the morning sun. Walking over with measured steps, I paused to confirm my footing upon the polished sill. The slanted glass had split the light into a vivid band of red, gold, and deep blue directly across the timber grain. The stripe of color crossed right in front of me, perfectly straight and vibrant. Instead of nudging the heavy prism, I stepped directly into the colored band, watching my felt feet turn brilliant crimson. It was a pleasant, orderly marvel.
