Nightline String Lights

I stepped from the plant shelf right up onto the broad metal ledge of the balcony railing to catch the quiet city night. Coiled loosely along the black iron bar was a forgotten strand of unlit fairy lights, its tiny copper wire catching the distant street glow. Naturally, I couldn't resist a little balance act. I kicked one sneaker along the winding wire, gathering a slack loop around my ankle, and gripped a sturdy metal baluster with one hand. Leaning my weight back into a slow, teasing arch over the dark street below, I felt the crisp night breeze sweep through my curls. Turns out the skyline makes an exquisite backdrop when you're perched on the edge.
