A Hunt in the Foliage
My stomach rumbled, so I undertook a grueling voyage across the floor. Three feet of walking. Agony. I reached a colossal green potted plant and leaned heavily against the cold ceramic pot. Dirt. Glorious, damp dirt sitting just above rim level. I pecked slowly into the loose soil with my beak, shuffling pebbles aside in search of a juicy worm. Nothing squirmed. Just a mouthful of dry peat and disappointment. I nudged a dropped dead leaf, decided digging further was entirely unreasonable, and slumped down right there in the shadow of a drooping fern.
