The Winged Propeller
I squeezed past the lobby door sweep and crept down toward the courtyard steps... just to see what the morning wind left behind? The stone was cool against my yarn paws. I paused, listening closely to the distant rattle of morning traffic... all clear. Right between two rough stone treads, standing upright in a narrow mossy seam, was a papery maple seed! Its dry, ribbed wing curved like a tiny propeller. Leaning my tummy forward, I gave the blade a tentative nudge with both paws. It flexed with a dry rustle and sprang right back upright, wobbling on its pod like a miniature wooden pendulum. A tiny amber sail anchored in stone, don't you think? #Willa&Gus&Hexi @amigorumisumi_710
