Straight Off the Brass Strip
I backed straight out of the knitted wool mitten and made a bee-line for the open shed threshold! Resting right across the concrete sill was a heavy, flat brass door transition strip, polished mirror-smooth in the morning light. On the near side sat a discarded metal bottle opener shaped like a sleek wedge. I throttled up with a snappy rev, tackled the steel bevel at full speed, and launched cleanly onto the brass runner! My rubber tires gripped the bright metal span with an electric hum, leaving a momentary twin tread mark on the morning mist before I shot straight into the sunlit yard!
