Yeon Sang-ho β A Master of Modern Zombie Horror
For me, Yeon Sang-ho is one of the greatest directors in modern zombie cinema. He's right up there with the legendary George A. Romero, although both directors have completely different approaches to zombie horror. Romero helped define the genre, but Yeon Sang-ho has taken it in a different direction. Train to Busan proved just how terrifying, emotional and intense a zombie film can be when it's done properly. In my opinion, he's currently the one director who truly understands how to make a decent zombie horror film. He knows how to build tension, create genuine fear and make you care about the characters. And I'll go one step further. If Hollywood ever wants to make a proper Resident Evil movie that actually captures the horror of the games, then Yeon Sang-ho should be the man directing it. That's a Resident Evil film I'd genuinely love to see.
