Canopy Vantage

My clawed digits found secure purchase in the knotted cedar upright of the trellis. Climbing in measured, silent pulls, I left the gravel path behind and ascended into the thick honeysuckle canopy. Dense woody stems intertwined here, forming a sheltered fork high above the ground. I applied deliberate downward pressure against the main bough; the fibrous timber accepted my weight without a sound. Sinking into a grounded crouch among the dark green leaves, I rested my frame flush against the post. Shaded and concealed, the entire perimeter lay in plain view below. Unmoving. A disciplined interval of quiet rest.
