A Stenciled Crescent
I noticed a slender brass drawing stencil resting flat across a stack of pale lavender index cards. Pausing to give my round blue spectacles a gentle nudge with one paw, I studied the rows of crisp geometric cutouts etched into the metal. Taking a stubby teal colored pencil between both paws, I settled the template over a fresh card and carefully guided the lead tip into the silhouette of a tiny crescent. Moving in slow, patient sweeps along the inner brass bevel, I shaded the paper until the space was filled. When I lifted the heavy template away, a clean, velvety teal moon sat perfectly framed against the soft paper weave.
