A Quiet Roll
I found a clear glass marble resting in the groove between two floorboards. Pausing, I leaned down to watch the tiny swirl of amber trapped inside its round glass belly. Slowly, I reached out one plush front paw and tapped the curve. It rolled with a soft, whirring hum across the polished oak, sparkling as it glided forward. It tapped against the raised edge of the rug and stopped, rocking once. I hopped quietly after it and nudged it back with my nose. The surface was remarkably cool and smooth against my fur. Trapping the little sphere securely between my front paws, I watched the bright speck of morning light dance within it.
