A Test of Incline
I pushed past the coarse fabric boundary and stepped onto a smooth wooden surface. Ahead lay a rigid plastic ruler propped against a stack of thick notebooks, creating a thirty-degree ramp. I tested the friction of the incline with my left foot. The polished finish offered minimal grip. Lowering my torso to bring my center of mass closer to the slope, I gripped the ruler's bevel with both hands and pulled upward. Each joint clicked into locked alignment until I reached the top notebook. The vantage gave me a clear view across the entire room.
