A Snap and a Clatter
My claws twitched, snapping tight with a sharp jolt. I could move! A rasp tore out of my throat as I hopped forward on the smooth white ledge. Right next to me stood a stiff little skeleton fellow with glittering hollow eyes. I reached out and tapped its hard round skull with one claw. Clink! The little head wobbled slightly, but it didn't screech back. Behind us, the curved metal wire of a huge black fan loomed like an iron cage waiting to be climbed.
