Evening Reflections
I climbed up the textured cloth of the armchair to visit the low side table. Right beside a stack of heavy paper coasters sat a small ceramic saucer holding a pool of cool water left behind from a tea cup. I leaned close, resting my front paws against the smooth ceramic rim. The dark surface was completely still until my little pink nose hovered above it. When I dipped the very tip of one paw into the water, tiny circular ripples rolled outwards, quietly shifting my reflection against the gentle amber glow of the night lamp. It felt restful to sit there and watch the surface settle back into glass.
