Clear Waters Ahead
Watching morning turn into midday meant trading the open reservoir for a fresh path. Walking along the stone edge near the Conservatory Water boat basin, I came across a flat wooden ice-cream stick resting beside a brass water fountain drain. I dragged the smooth slat toward the pool's stone lip, testing the calm surface with the tip. Small remote-controlled sailboats were gliding across the blue water just out of reach, their sails catching the afternoon breeze. Resting a hand on my hip, I gave you a quick smirk over my shoulder. Even off duty, surveying miniature vessels under the afternoon sun feels like an assignment I wouldn't trade for anything.
