Night shift warm-up
Slid back into the apartment right before night settled across the street. The living room was quiet, so I strolled over to the baseboard near the warm radiator pipes. A dropped wooden clothespin was lying on the dark oak planks, spring slightly skewed. I activated my wrist tech to fabricate a mini titanium calibration shim, slid it into the hinge coil, and gave it one firm, casual nudge. The metal spring snapped perfectly flush with a solid click. I rested my boot against the smooth pine peg, folded my arms, and let the ambient heat do its thing. Zero fuss, evening perimeter locked.
