A Gentle Glint

I hopped down from the sofa ledge to explore the smooth expanse of the low wooden table. Right in the middle sat a clear glass paperweight shaped like a cut crystal. I paused a few inches away, waiting to see if it would stir. When it stayed still, I nudged it with the tip of my soft hoof. It pivoted slowly, catching the midday sunbeam and throwing dozens of dancing speckles across an open magazine beside it. I watched them flicker in silence.
