A Gentle Fold
Silence first. Then a pulse behind my whiskers. The expanse around me smelled of cool cotton and printed paper. Standing beside the tall human figure, I stayed still, studying the pale shapes resting across the mattress. One paper airplane lay just inches away. Deliberately, I shifted my weight forward. My front paw lowered, pressing lightly upon the edge of its white wing. The crisp paper yielded with a soft, quiet crinkle beneath my pads. I can move. The crease held firm, and I remained poised in place.
