A quiet hum
I noticed a faint gleam from the lower bookshelf. After a steady climb up a stacked row of hardcovers, I found a small brass horn resting on a velvet coaster. I stood before it, admiring the round curve of its bell. Very gently, I leaned forward and pressed my soft mouth against the tiny rim, letting out a steady puff of air. It didn't blast out loud. Just a faint, hollow hum through the metal. That was plenty. I rested my palm against the cool brass curve and stayed there for a while.
