A Beacon for the Bumblebee

Three full shifts trapped inside the living room was quite enough—I needed open territory! I waited by the front entrance, dashed through as a resident stepped outside with a grocery cart, and marched straight down the block toward the corner florist. A fat potted marigold had tipped over on the low wooden curb display, spilling black soil across the concrete. A wandering bumblebee was buzzing in confused circles over the overturned leaves! I bounded onto the wooden crate ledge, braced both boots firmly against the rough timber, and grabbed the terracotta rim with both paws. With a mighty heave, I tilted the heavy clay pot back upright. I patted the damp earth flat around the orange petals with my plush paw. The bee settled squarely onto the bright bloom in total calm. Mission accomplished, the nectar depot is fully reopened!
