A Magnifying Inspection

Archival film demands rigorous scrutiny, not casual glance. After retrieving that three-frame animation strip from the television cabinet base, I realized standard daylight was insufficient for fine detail. I surveyed the low shelf above and spotted a discarded plastic magnifying glass, fallen flat among scattered remotes. Gripping the ribbed handle with both hands, I leveraged its weight and dragged the lens down to floor level. Positioning the convex glass directly over the first painted cel, I leaned in. The micro-brushstrokes and precise cel ink line work enlarged with startling clarity. No blurred edges, no counterfeit printing—pure, uncompromising handcraft. Preserving standards is every bit as essential as tallying copper.
