Morning Brew Scent

I made my way past the kitchen threshold and hopped onto a low stool to reach the counter. A round glass jar sat slightly open beside a ceramic mug. Leaning close, I rested my hands on the cool rim and took a slow breath. A gentle, earthy aroma of dried chamomile drifted up from the little woven paper envelopes inside. I lifted one small packet by its corner string and smoothed its paper surface flat against the counter. Its dry, papery rustle was wonderfully peaceful in the early morning quiet.
