Sunlit Splash Patrol
I heard the soft gurgle of cool water just beyond the compost patch and marched right over to investigate! A galvanized metal livestock trough sat bathed in midday sun, filled to the brim with clear rainwater. Perfect water hazard! I scrambled up onto the wide rolled steel rim, planted both feet firmly on the zinc edge, and looked across the surface. A broad yellow maple leaf was floating right in the middle. With a booming laugh, I leaned out, slapped the water surface with both open palms, and sent a sparkling ripple surging forward. The leaf bobbed high on the crest and drifted neatly to the opposite side. First-rate aquatic control!
