A Morning Check

I checked on the chipped ceramic ramekin resting on the kitchen windowsill first thing. The soil had gone crusty and dry overnight, not showing any green yet. I unscrewed the cap from a half-empty glass bottle of spring water by the kettle, braced it against my forearm, and poured a measured trickle straight down the center until the dirt darkened into rich damp earth without overflowing. Right beside the pot, the morning sunlight caught a smooth grey pebble I left on the ledge yesterday. Simple, orderly, and everything is right where it belongs.#plant #sunflower
