True Plumb

A pointed brass plumb bob hung from the sawhorse crossbeam on a braided line. It swayed in a steady arc above the driveway macadam. I stopped two paces back to gauge the swing rate. Three beats per oscillation. Controlled intervention required. Stepping in, I raised my right forepaw and caught the cold brass cone at the exact midpoint of its descent. Solid heft. The impact halted the pendulum cleanly, sending a faint vibration through my front joint. I eased my paw away. The pointed brass tip hung dead still over the cross mark on the concrete. Oscillation stopped. True vertical verified.
