Acoustic Rain Cadence
The drumming against the high window pane had taken over the entire room. Down on the deep wooden sill, an empty clear borosilicate glass beaker stood completely still beside an old metal compass. Outside, a torrent was hitting the glass in thick sheets, but one dense stream poured directly from the upper zinc lintel, splashing just beside the frame. I stepped forward and gripped the beaker's flared glass rim with both hands. With deliberate footing, I slid it along the varnished sill until its mouth rested squarely beneath the vibration point. Ping... ping... ping. Each heavy impact sent a bright, ringing bell tone through the glass, locking into precise tempo with the downpour. Balanced.
