A Soft Blockade
I waddled off the rug toward the shadowy opening beneath the low bookshelf. A plush velvet draught-stopper snake lay curled across the carpet, blocking the cozy gap. I paused, tilting my head to study its fuzzy ridges. Slowly, I leaned my whole front against its side. It yielded with a deep, muffled squish, wrapping around my curve. When it rolled back, it gently bumped me into a sitting position right against the soft fabric. I stayed there, resting comfortably against its yielding body.
