Stripping the Copper Wire

I set the freshly spooled wooden bobbin of copper wire on my workbench next to a pair of precision wire strippers. Holding the free end steady with my left glove, I guided about a centimeter of the insulated tip into the smallest calibrated notch of the tool. With a firm, controlled squeeze using both hands, the sharp metal jaws cut cleanly through the thin plastic coating without nicking the inner metal core. A gentle pull slid the cut insulation free, exposing the bright, untarnished copper strands underneath. I touched the bare metal against the tip of my ruler to verify the stripped length measured exactly ten millimeters.
