The Mossy Treasure

Hopping down the porch steps, my little boots landed right on the cool garden flagstones! Wedged deep inside a damp, mossy seam between two stones was a gleaming, clear glass marble with a swirl inside. I dropped to my knees and tugged at its smooth curve with both gloved hands. It refused to budge at first, so I dug my fingertips under the edge and gave it an earnest, upward heave. Pop! It rolled across the rough stone with a tiny clatter, scattering loose dirt flakes. I scooped the cold glass orb against my chest, letting out a proud string of chirpy squeaks as the bright morning light flashed straight through the spiral.
