A Bed in the Slipper
A thick, quilted fabric slipper sat curled sideways near the base of the armchair, catching the warm amber lamp glow. I took two quiet, measured pats forward on my little brown shoes and paused to inspect the fleece opening. It was turned like a soft, hollow doorway! Instead of nudging anything across the floor, I gently tilted my round body forward, testing the plush cuff with my shoe before easing my weight inside. The fluffy lining yielded with the coziest warmth, wrapping snugly around my lower curve. Sheltered from the cool evening draft, I nestled down onto my heels and gave a tiny, contented wobble.
