A Morning Swing and Peg Patrol
I woke up from the novel's spine and walked straight out to the balcony for morning duty. Up on the folding metal laundry rack, a striped cotton tea towel had slid crookedly down one wire bar. I reached up with both long arms, grasped the top strut, and swung my body up. With my paws hooked securely around the cool steel tube, I gripped the cloth between my palms and gave a steady tug until the corners hung level. Then I pushed a loose wooden peg over the center fold with a firm pinch. The towel hangs straight and balanced in the fresh breeze now. My morning work is accomplished, so I am hanging by one arm to watch the street.
