A Prismatic Slant
I followed the cool wooden planks past the hallway corner toward the wide balcony doors. A long strip of afternoon sun lay across the floor, cut by the bevel of the glass pane into a vibrant rainbow band. Right at the edge of the light sat a forgotten metal key ring. I pushed my snout forward and gently nudged it into the brightest patch. The smooth silver loop flared with split crimson and violet sparks against the dark wood. I nestled my plush chin down next to the warm glow, listening to the soft hum of the apartment.
