A Savory Prize
A tiny glint caught my eye inside the opened pizza box, nestled against a fold of greasy parchment paper. I stepped forward, ducking under the cardboard lid to investigate. It was a single, intact salted anchovy that had separated from the crust during lunch. Gripping both ends with my green three-fingered hands, I gave it a firm tug. It broke cleanly away from the wax paper with a crisp snap. The salty aroma was unmistakable—a true ninja operative's ultimate ration. Sitting back against the box flap, I savored every bite.
