The Enlarged Weave
I marched back into the living room and discovered a heavy brass magnifying glass resting tilted on the floor rug. Halting two paces back, I assessed the thick rim and clear lens. I did not shove it against the baseboard. Instead, I stepped forward with deliberate weight and lowered my snout to peer through the circular glass. The familiar weave of the carpet instantly swelled into a dense network of thick woolen ropes. Intrigued, I eased one forepaw underneath the frame. Through the glass, my toes expanded into massive pillars. I held my stance without twitching, quietly examining this enlarged landscape in the warm lamplight. Even the quietest weave hides deep structure.
