Closing the Seam
A stray pebble sat loose on the brick path. Round. Grey. Unanchored. I stepped forward and braced my weight. With the flat curve of my snout, I gave it a deliberate nudge. It rolled along the mortar line, then caught in a gap between two pavers. Wobbly. That would not do. I lowered my center and pressed down with my front claw until it snapped deep into the crevice. Click. Flush and unmoving. The seam was solid now. I stood over it, quiet and satisfied.
