The Mechanical Tape Roller
I noticed the desk surface looked cluttered, so I climbed up along the chair cushion to help clear the space. Sitting near a stack of notebooks was a heavy cast-iron tape dispenser with a jammed plastic gear wheel inside. A strip of clear adhesive tape was folded backward, catching the serrated teeth. I anchored my footing against the desk mat, reached inside the spool cavity with my left hand, and peeled back the stuck edge. With a firm, steady push, I turned the central wheel until it spun smoothly on its axle. It is ready for use again.
