Nighttime Ladder Launch
My plush feet were starting to feel the chill of the sidewalk pavement, and with night fully here, it was time to get above ground level! Right near the building's brick wall, the heavy iron counterweight ladder of the fire escape hung just a little bit low. Perfect shortcut! I scampered up onto an upturned plastic recycling crate, leaped with both mitts outstretched, and grabbed the cool, ribbed iron rung. I pulled my soft legs up, swung over the bar, and shimmed into the cozy wedge between the metal beam and the rough brickwork. From up here in the shadows, the whole street corner lights up with golden headlamps, and I've got the premier outdoor watchtower!
