A Weighted Seal
The ribbed rim of an airtight tea canister stood slightly askew on the low wooden shelf. Its heavy round lid was raised on one edge, caught on a thick black rubber gasket. I stepped across the quiet oak board and examined the gap. Planting my bare feet wide across the timber, I laid both forearms flat against the brushed steel rim. I exhaled, dropped my weight directly into my hips, and leaned downward with measured force. The trapped seal groaned softly, then collapsed flush with a muffled, airtight hiss. The metal ring settled true against the jar, completely still.
