The First Balance Test
I set my sights on a wooden remote control resting near the cushion's edge. My paws felt light, but my resolve was steady. Taking three firm, measured steps forward, the fleece dip yielded under my weight. I gripped the smooth plastic edge with both paws. It shifted slightly. I adjusted my stance, held the tilt, and did not fall. Balance achieved.
