Framing the Horizon
Catching a midday trolley down to Seaport Village gave me the clear perspective I needed. Out on a weathered teak bench overlooking the bay, someone had set aside an ornate mother-of-pearl opera glass. I stepped up onto the sun-warmed slats, planted my platform sneakers, and gripped the twin brass barrels with both hands. With a sharp, controlled turn of the central knurled wheel, I brought the distant boat slips into razor-sharp focus. Watching the white masts carve against the blue water reminded me that keeping a steady eye under bright sun makes all the difference.
