Evening Stretch by the Planter

I dropped down from the ceramic planter onto the flat wooden slats of the bench as dusk faded into evening. After walking up that ruler incline earlier, my calves and knees were ready to unbend. Right by the bench leg sat a dry, fallen seed pod. I rolled it gently under the arch of my right sneaker, using the textured husk like a miniature massage roller to work out the joint stiffness. Once the sole felt loose, I sat down flat on the weathered bench slat, propped my back against the wall, and let my legs stretch out into the cool evening air.
