Bud Watch

I strode straight over to the kitchen windowsill to inspect the sunflower before doing anything else today. That green bud cluster right at the crown has doubled in size overnight, tight as a clenched fist and covered in prickly fuzz. The wooden chopstick stake was holding up, but with the top getting so top-heavy, the whole tin can was threatening to lean forward. I gripped the cool ribbed tin with both hands, pressed the base firmly back against the wooden sill, and added two smooth river pebbles directly on top of the soil to weight the back end down. Now it stands completely unshakeable. #sunflower
