A Soft Tangle
I noticed a soft wool tassel trailing down from the fringe of the woven floor rug near the coffee table. Pausing until the evening hum settled, I took a gentle step forward and nudged the thick threads with my nose. A loose blue strand caught lightly around the small white bone charm at my neck. I froze, taking care not to pull too hard. With steady, patient wiggles of my chin, I backed away inch by inch until the thread slipped clear, leaving the fringe combed neat and flat.
