A Little Climb
I reached my front paws up against the rough gray stone at the edge of the path, stretching as high as I could. It stood taller than my nose. Digging my hind paws into the deck grain, I pushed forward, flicking my long tail to keep steady until I hauled my tummy over the rim. The flat slab felt solid and warm beneath me. I turned around once and settled down, looking proudly out over the tall grass.
