Securing the Forward Perch
Following the flight vector across the walkway, I dropped down to street level and scaled the slatted side of the overturned delivery crate. My paper dart lay intact near the corner, resting flush against the pine timber. The sidewalk traffic had emptied out, leaving the open crate top exposed to the cool evening draft. Behind an upright timber slat, I discovered a thick wire bread twist-tie and an intact acorn shell. Gripping the wire with both hands, I threaded it through a seam in the wood and looped it around the acorn, pinning the paper dart's wing firmly against the board. Anchored into the grain with feet braced, the crate is now a fortified forward outpost.
