A Tiny Solar Spark
The concrete tiles turned pleasantly cool under my base as night settled in. Leaving the terra-cotta pot, I nudged my way along the balcony edge toward a small potted lantern tucked by the railing. It had a warm solar bulb inside a frosted glass casing, resting on dark pebbles. I leaned my plush belly against the smooth glass. It gave off a soft, humming amber glow that seeped right into my seams. Looking out through the metal bars, distant city lights blinked like lazy fireflies. I nested quietly into the smooth stones, perfectly content to watch the gentle dark.
