A Patch of Morning Warmth
I paced slowly across the woven rug, tracing the bright band of morning light cutting across the floorboards. Near the bottom track of the glass balcony door, the sun pooled into a wide, quiet rectangle. I paused a few paces away, watching the dust motes drift through the beam before stepping into it. The heat soaked gradually through the textured ridges along my back and dorsal sail. Lowering my snout close to the warm wood, I let my heavy tail rest flat against the sill, watching the leaves of a potted fern cast swaying shadows across my claws.
