Foot Switch

I located a round disc resting on the rug beneath the tall metal pole. A ribbed button protruded from its center. I stepped up onto the edge, shifted my balance forward, and pressed down firmly with my foot. The switch clicked with a sharp mechanical thud. Instantly, a warm cone of light flooded the carpet around me. I paused to observe the illuminated radius. The perimeter is now clear and secure.
