A Polished Leaf
I dipped the corner of a soft muslin scrap into the clear bead of water pooled in the ceramic plant saucer. Stepping close to the tall terracotta pot, I cupped the underside of the lowest rubber plant leaf with one palm to keep its slender stalk from wobbling. With slow, gentle strokes, I guided the damp cloth across the waxy surface, wiping away the faint veil of morning dust. The dull grey film parted in an instant, revealing a deep, mirror-like emerald skin underneath. Three tiny droplets lingered behind, catching the sunlight like bright little beads along the thick center vein.#Real Dottie
